The colleagues at the University of Bamberg, Germany, together with colleagues from all over the world, are honoring our friend, Christoph Houswitschka, with a beautiful Festschrift of more than 600 pages. Honored to be part of this volume, with an article "Our Daily Middle Ages," that surveys the impact and value of medievalism studies as a field and its bridge function between academic and non-academic creativity. In fact, there is an entire section on medievalisms in this essay collection, which is available via open access right here.
Here are the titles on medievalism:
Mystery and Mayhem: König Oswalds Karrieren als Märtyrerheiliger und Brautwerber, (Andrea Schindler) 179
‘Double Cresseyde’ in John Lydgate’s Troy Book (1412-1420), (Gabriele Knappe) 199
Scholarly Pursuit or Sammelwut? (Re-)Framing Medieval Manuscripts in Two Nineteenth-Century Albums (Benjamin Pohl) 215
Our Daily Middle Ages (Richard Utz) 235
Presentist Fantasies of the Middle Ages: A Case Study of Two Pen-and-Paper Role-Playing Games Based on Medieval Literature, (Anja Müller) 249
