I personally don't think so, but here is another article, this time in the Chronicle, that describes what the journalist perceives to be the situation. I was among the medievalists interviewed in person, and I think my perspective was included appropriately. The article is behind the paywall, so you might want to check if your institution has a subscription that includes the current online edition.
