Thrilled to be part of a panel celebrating the second cohort of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts led GT@DC program, which is already showing incredible results: Our students are interning with members of congress, government agencies, and NGOs in the DC area; and they are being hired into positions soon thereafter.
All this due to the versatility of students who can bridge innovation in sciences and technology with top-demand skills in communication, intercultural competency, and ethics (social justice). We are Humanizing STEM, and celebrating the Year of the Liberal Arts.
Current participants in the program include students from all across campus, and specifically from all six schools in Ivan Allen College. Thanks to Directors Larry Rubin and Zach Taylor!
Yesterday's event featured discussions about how our specific programs help recognize and tackle complex social, cultural, and technological issues, including sustainability, poverty, and health. Our panel included: Dene Sheheane (President, Georgia Tech Alumni Association), Richard Utz (Int. Dean, Ivan Allen College), Devesh Ranjan (Chair, Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering), and Ellen Bassett (Dean, College of Design), and all moderated by Cassidy Sugimoto, Chair of Public Policy.
