Renowned CNN journalist Christiane Amanpour, who received Georgia Tech's Ivan Allen Jr. Prize for Social Courage today, started her visit to our institution today with a conversation with liberal arts students. She underlined the importance of the humanities and social sciences for highest standards in truth-telling, specifically truth-telling in the face of rampant misinformation and powerful (undemocratic) forces with an interest in keeping research-based information from reaching all citizens. Great pleasure to have served on the selection committee as well as moderating this event for our fantastic students, who asked thought-provoking questions.
